What does Easter mean?

How do I encourage fellow parishioners to become more active in their faith?

There are various things you can do:

  • Do you discuss faith with them?
  • Are there suitable opportunities for faith-sharing in your parish to which you could invite them? If not, could you set up something with your priest?
  • If there are opportunities but they are not being used, do they need to be better advertised or are different opportunities needed? How can you help? Speak to the priest about what could be set up or supported better.
  • Affirm other parishioners by pointing out what they already do to develop their faith and encourage them to ‘go deeper’. Try not to criticise them;
  • Ask them what would help them become more active? Often people are time-poor, tired or demoralised rather than reluctant;
  • Direct them to one or two resources which you have used and offer to help them get started.
  • Encourage them but try to not overwhelm them.

Material produced in collaboration with the Agency for Evangelisation in the Diocese of Westminster.
